Oakland Township, Michigan
Oakland Township is a 36 square mile community located in north Oakland County east of Lake Orion and north of Rochester Hills. Because of laws limiting commercial and industrial development, Oakland Township offers a scenic, rural residential area with a population around 17,000. While it may seem far from the city, Oakland Township is only about 40 minutes away from the heart of downtown Detroit. Major economic hot spots like Rochester Hills and Auburn Hills are very close by as well.
For shopping, dining and entertainment, head south just a few miles where you can go to the Great Lakes Crossing Outlet Mall which features dozens of stores, a movie theater, an aquarium and restaurants or check out a concert or basketball game at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
If you like spending time outdoors, check out Stony Creek Metropark to the east or Bald Mountain State Recreation Area to the west.
